Magic Marker Monday: Footprints

A couple of weeks ago, I showed Samantha how I could trace her foot on the Doodle Pro. Well, it wasn't long before she thought it was the funnest thing to do!

Magic Marker Monday: Great-Grandpa's B-day

Dan's grandfather just turned 86. It's always easy to remember because Timothy was a newborn at the 80th b-day party. Dan's aunt coordinated a group of memoirs to give him this year, and Timothy was actually excited when I told him what he was drawing! He said he wanted to color all the things of a b-day party, and if you look really closely you can see the balloons, the cake, and the presents!

The Bible says, "Perfect love casts out fear", and I see this over and over again in Timothy. When he cares enough about someone or something, he can even get over his fears of drawing!

Magic Marker Monday: Autographs

Timothy was very excited at Disneyland to get autographs from each of the Disney characters we met. However, when it was time to meet our favorite Cars characters, Timothy pointed out the obvious problem, "Mom, they don't have hands. They can't sign my book." As I was trying to come up with an answer, Timothy said, "I know, mom, we can sign FOR them." So here you have the signature of Lightning McQueen, forged by Timothy:

Magic Marker Monday: Easter

My children each have a big Doodle Pro & a small Doodle Pro. And yet, Timothy picked another mini-doodle pro when given the chance at our church's egg hunt yesterday. He typically uses his Doodle Pro to write words/sentences/stats. He rarely draws, so I was excited to see him try this yesterday. We were beside the playground, and he said he wanted to draw it!!!

Here is Timothy drawing the playground:

On the way home, Timothy wrote this:

Jesus
died
on
the
cross

But He's not dead anymore. He is alive!

Magic Marker Monday: JMAKE

Timothy's school has an art program that is led by parent volunteers. There have been some very creative projects this year, including painting tiles to put in our brand new library! Timothy attends a magnet school who's emphasis is "global citizenship". In this project JMAKE (the art program) partnered with a sister school in Rome, Italy. Each school used Arthus Bertrand's aerial photographs as an inspiration for these watercolors. Our K-3 students were given aerial views of their own school and told to paint what they saw!

Timothy's picture is in the 2nd column, 4th down, and as you can see it's pretty bleached out. It says "I love you" which I'm sure is written somewhere in the landscape around Timothy's school. These are all the paintings from Timothy's class put together, and I think it's just amazing! Such a creative idea.

Magic Marker Monday: Wrapping Paper

For the birthday party we attended on Saturday, we did something a little different. I wrapped the present in brown package paper, and then I let Timothy draw on it however he wanted. He really struggles with drawing (due to poor fine motor skills and some strange mental block), so I'm trying to find various ways to make it enjoyable. Plus, this personalizes the present a little and makes him think about the person he's giving the gift to. The blank space is where we had a stuffed animal attached.

And he wrote the To and From on the back!

Magic Marker Monday: Cowboys

Photobucket
Sat night the kids went to Parents Night Out at the Y so Dan and I could have a date night. At the end of the evening, Timothy ran to me with this paper in his hand. While he passed it to me he said, "Mom, I drew your favorite team!!!" (The other side of the paper said "I love you", but he had already shown me that.)

MMM: Doodle Pro Love Notes

Timothy came out of his room one morning last week and handed his doodle pro to me. It says, "I love you. From ("fot") Timothy, To Mom." Talk about a great way to start the day!
