Tonight I Cry

I have moved so many times in my adult life I can barely count, even 4 times internationally.  And every time (except moving back to the States from the Philippines) I've been happy about the move.  I've been content living in all these places, but the next place always excites me and I'm a "glass is half full" kind of person.  But tonight I have to admit that I don't want to leave San Diego.  This is my home, and this is our kids home.  So tonight I cry.  And I feel blessed that I've lived 36 years and moved upteen times before ever having to cry about a move.  I feel blessed for loving a place so much that it hurts to leave it.

:( Makes me want to cry with you.
But even in your sad post, you see the glass half full.

I'm sorry you feel sad about moving. I know that feeling and it is NOT fun! But it is healthy.

When you are feeling less sad, I have a few suggestions. Although you're an experienced mover so I'm sure you've thought of all this. But just in case... :)

1. Make a list with Dan and the kids of 2 events, activities or places in SD you want to see and do for each month before you leave.

2. Make a photobook (Snapfish has them pretty cheap) of all your favorite places, activities and people in SD now.

3. Make a list with Dan and the kids of 1 event, activity or place in the new area that you want to see or do each month for the first year. (Gives you something to look forward to.)

4. Request the state tourism guide for your new state and city. Hang a map of the area now so that your kids can adjust to the idea and place.

5. Check out library books about the new place.

6. Buy a couple of great children's books for your current place and for the new place. Sleeping Bear Press (http://www.sleepingbearpress.com) has amazing States/ theme books!

That's the end of my unsolicited advice. I really am sorry this move is going to be hard. Love you!!

sorry! I had no idea you were moving (but I haven't done a good job keeping up with blogging either). I can definitely understand not wanting to leave your home, especially since it is where you kids were born and have had some wonderful years. I will be praying for you...that you have a peace about the whole situation.

Sheila-thank you, friend. I need people who are willing to cry with me.

Steph-you are the most practical person I have ever met! I've already ordered stuff from VA, and also plan on ordering stuff from other states along our path. And that book website you gave looks awesome. Thank you.
