Kids' Picks: Nick Jr. Book Club

Kids' Picks

Since Timothy started Kindergarten, 2 things have happened:
  • His ability to read increases every day!
  • His desire to read increases every day!
We ordered the Nick Jr. Book Club from Scholastic several years ago (as I know tons of people did since I've seen those little backpacks everywhere). I don't think we finished the series, but we do have around 10 of them.

About a week ago, Timothy slept in so late one morning that Dan had to go wake him up. Timothy was asleep with these books all around him! He had pulled each one of them off his shelf and read them for who knows how long. Dan asked him how he was able to do it, and Timothy answered nonchalantly, "I have my nightlight".

Fun!! Will is starting to read on his own also. He read sign posts yesterday on the way to the dr. So far he's been resistant to do the actual reading (even though he can) because it's work and easier for him if I do the reading. I know once it becomes easier for him I'll have to pry his nose from books.

How cute! Mine aren't reading yet, but the journey has been so much fun so far. As much as I want them to be able to explore through reading on their own, I will miss story time, so I'm trying not to rush it. :) But will be excited just the same.

Shanna, I know what you mean. I love this book reading time together so much!

What a great story, I love how kids come up with such witty comments without even knowing it :)

Kids who love to read.. it's a wonderful thing. Even when you catch your 13 year old daughter up at 1 am on a school night under the covers with a flashlight to finish the last of her book. :)

That is so great! Ever since my kids were young toddlers they loved having books with them in bed.

That's cute! I actually had to ban books from my 7 year old's bed because I was worried about him hurting his eyes. He would read for hours by the light of his Ben 10 Alien force Omnitrix light (not good lighting). It's a nice problem to have though. I love it when kids are passionate about books.
