Proverbs 18

2 A fool finds no pleasure in understanding
but delights in airing his own opinions.

I admit that I need to spend less energy on spouting my opinions and more energy trying to understand where others are coming from.

6 A fool's lips bring him strife,
and his mouth invites a beating.

7 A fool's mouth is his undoing,
and his lips are a snare to his soul.

Sometimes I just ask for it-figuratively and literally.

9 One who is slack in his work
is brother to one who destroys.

I tend to be lazy, and God has been growing me in this area for many years.

10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.

13 He who answers before listening—
that is his folly and his shame.

How many countless times have I cut someone off who was talking!!!! Oh, it is shameful.

22 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the LORD.

What truth! :)

Vs 14: I have seen broken men before...it's sad. Nothing can bring them around it seems. I think this goes along with the foolish use of lips. I truly have the power to destroy. I must be careful!

Vs 22: I have received favor from the Lord!

vs 19- An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.

How true this is! When I am offended I push in my heels and refuse to budge. It is a prison! I put my walls up and keep the other at a distance. I need to be very cautious to not offend others. This puts up a terrible wall that is very difficult to scale once it is up.

vs 24- A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

It doesn't matter how many friends you have it is the quality of those friends.

And Dan! You sly dog! Good answer!
