WFMW: Steaming Vegetables

Last night I had cooked my Poppyseed Chicken & brown rice (1 day late) when I realized I had a bowl of raw veggies I forgot to cook. I realized I could have quickly popped them in the microwave, but as I was scooping out the rice from my rice cooker I had an idea. I pushed the rice over to one side and laid my raw vegetables on the other. I put the lid back on, and in about 5 minutes I had perfectly steamed veggies. They were nicely cooked, but still had a crunch! Works for Me!

To find out what's working for other people, head over to We Are THAT Family.

I love broccoli! I purchase some of those ziplock steamer bags, and they work GREAT! I just put a little in there, mircrowave for a few mins, and yummy, crumchy broccoli!

LOL I do this all the time when I'm cooking rice & veggies. I cook mine in a pot on the stove. About 5-10 minutes before time to eat I throw the veggies right on top of the rice. Works great! :)
